The Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan organized a press conference to talk about key political events in the country. In particular, the historical decisions taken during the meeting of the People's Council of Turkmenistan and the preferred vectors of international cooperation were described.
Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, higher educational institutions, diplomatic missions accredited on the territory of Turkmenistan and the mass media - both national and foreign - were invited to participate in the event.
The participants of the press conference were informed that, during the September 25 of meetings of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, with the support of the Turkmen nation, an updated constitution of the country was adopted.
In accordance with it, a new legislative body, Milli Genesh (National Assembly), will be created in Turkmenistan. It will include two chambers - Khalk Maslakhaty (People's Council) and Mejlis, the powers between which are strictly delineated in the updated basic law of the state.
Speaking about this event, head of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan R.Meredov noted that the People's Council of Turkmenistan also outlined key vectors of the state domestic and foreign policy for 2021, based on the status of permanent neutrality. The Foreign Minister also focused on the main points and significance of the report of the President of Turkmenistan, which he made during the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.
Director of the Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan Y. Nuryev and Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan J. Gurbangeldyev spoke at the press conference. They noted the importance of the constitutional reforms that have taken place in the country.
Summing up the event, the Foreign Minister said that Turkmenistan, based on international legal principles, would continue to actively participate in building a democratic and stable world order.
