A new season of excavations of the "Caravanserai" began in Turkmenistan

Excavations of the famous architectural object "Portal of the Caravanserai" continue in Dashoguz province on the territory of the state historical and cultural reserve park "Kunyaurgench". This is reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".

Archaeological excavations are conducted by specialists of the Kunyaurgench Nature Reserve. Here in 2020, volumetric fragments of walls, clay jugs and hums, remains of clay water pipes, terracotta elements of decoration were discovered. All archaeological artifacts became exhibits in the ancient building of the Dashmechet madrasah of the Museum of Folk Crafts.

The new excavation season will allow archaeologists and historians to study the ancient cultural heritage more thoroughly. The National Department of Turkmenistan for Protection, Study and Restoration of Historical and Cultural Monuments oversees the work, implementing the State Program.
