On April 1, the whole world celebrates the International Bird Day, and in Turkmenistan this holiday, designed to encourage the population to fight against the extinction of rare bird species, is celebrated annually. Traditionally, the opening of exhibitions and thematic conferences are timed to coincide with this day. This is reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
A contest dedicated to birds was held in the State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan in connection with the February-March holiday this year. The winners of two rounds of the contest were identified among the students of the capital's schools, universities and secondary educational institutions and received memorable gifts.
On March 31, the opening of the exhibition "The World of Birds" was held at the State Museum, where representatives of universities and students spoke. The exhibition presents stuffed birds found on the territory of Turkmenistan, their nests, eggs, as well as sculptures of birds, paintings with their images, carpets and jewelry.
The exhibition paid special attention to educational and scientific literature on ornithology. The museum received the diaries of ornithologist G.P. Dementiev, who worked in Turkmenistan during the World War II.
