The problem of regional and global climate change worries not only the government of Turkmenistan, but also the International Organization for Migration. This issue was the main reason for holding a seminar for employees of leading ministries and departments on identifying the risks of climate change and assessing the consequences of their impact. The meeting was held within the framework of the UNDP.
During the training, participants emphasized the abrupt climate change that could lead to an irreversible global catastrophe. Turkmenistan is a country with a semi-arid climate, which is becoming a cause of concern in maintaining sustainable development of the agricultural sector and water resources.
The seminar discussed a plan for bilateral cooperation in the context of creating sustainable development of the regions located in the Aral Sea Basin, and therefore the impact of the drying up of the Aral Sea will have the most serious negative impact on them.
Developing a strategic plan of directions and mechanisms for cooperation on climate change for the next year is the main goal of the seminar.
