A webinar on financing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and UNDP services and tools in this area was held in the capital of Turkmenistan. The webinar was held on the basis of the UNDP and the Ministry of Finance of Turkmenistan project "Platform for Implementation of the SDGs".
The main objective was to present the global experience of financing the implementation of the SDGs, which were outlined by the Addis Ababa Action Agenda. The participants were also introduced to UNDP mechanisms and approaches to the implementation of the SDGs. They referred to the Turkmen Ministry of Finance and other ministries and government agencies also involved in the achievement of the SDGs.
The participants of the online meeting included UN Resident Coordinator a.i. Christine Weygand, UNDP Resident Representative a.i. Natia Natsvlishvili, Head of Sustainable Development at the Ministry of Finance Atadjan Ataev, who coordinates the implementation of the SDG Platform in the country, and delegates from UNDP offices in CIS, Europe and Asia. The speakers praised the relationship that has taken shape between Turkmenistan and UNDP. This applies both to the global partnership and specifically to the financing of the SDGs.
Webinar participants learned about UNDP's services and tools in the area of SDG financing, and were introduced to the overview and integrated financing mechanisms, goals, global experience, and other practical and theoretical activities in this area.
