Turkmen Carpet Day is celebrated annually on the last Sunday of May in Turkmenistan. This year the holiday fell on May 28. The Orient news website tells about the festive events.
The exhibition hall of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan became the center of the festive day. A wide variety of carpets and original carpets with traditional Turkmen ornaments were presented here. In addition, the works of Turkmen jewelers, ceramists, stained glass and velvet artists, designers of clothes and accessories, doll makers were demonstrated at the fair.
The center of the exposition were the winning works of the contest "Carpet - the national pride of our people".
Also on May 28, the forum of the World Association of Turkmen Carpet Connoisseurs and awarding of the best carpet makers of the State Association "Turkmencover", who were awarded the honorary title "Honored Carpet Maker of Turkmenistan" were held.
