The Turkmen national team, including 10 men and 5 women, represents the country at the World Weightlifting Championship in Riyadh. This is reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
A total of 719 athletes from 117 countries will take part in the tournament.
The men's Turkmen national team included S. Mirzaev (up to 61 kg), P. Bakhtiyarov (up to 67 kg), B. Rashidov (up to 67 kg), B. Reyimov (up to 73 kg), M. Meredov (up to 81 kg), Sh. Shohradov (up to 89 kg), G. Toraev (up to 81 kg), Sh. Matyakubov (up to 96 kg), D. Hasanbaev (up to 102 kg) and H. Toichiev (over 109 kg). The women's team included the 2018 world champion in the weight of up to 45 kg Yu. Dzhumabaeva (up to 49 kg), K. Shermetova (up to 59 kg), G. Kadyrova (up to 76 kg), silver medalist of the Olympic Games in Tokyo in the category up to 59 kg P. Gurieva (up to 76 kg) and A. Rustamova (up to 81 kg).
The current championship is a qualifying event for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Another qualifying round will be the World Cup, which will be held next April in Thailand.
