Turkmenistan initiates expansion of cultural cooperation among Turkic-speaking countries

Leaders of Turkic-speaking countries during the meetings in Astana agreed to expand cultural and humanitarian ties, which play an important role in multilateral interaction. According to the Orient newspaper, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, came up with such an initiative.

The heads of state supported the idea of holding regular bilateral and multilateral cultural events, including joint Days of Culture. The high level of contacts within the TÜRKSOY organization was noted, and a proposal was made to expand joint projects.

In addition, Turkmenistan has taken the initiative to organize a series of events in 2024 to mark the 300th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Turkmen poet and philosopher Makhtumkuli and the announcement of the city of Annau as the cultural capital of the Turkic world next year.

The leaders also agreed to intensify cooperation in science, education, healthcare and sports. Special attention was paid to strengthening ties between scientific organizations of the countries.
