Workshops organized jointly by the Government and the International Labour Organization (ILO) were held in the Akhal, Mary and Dashoguz provinces of Turkmenistan. The events were aimed at raising citizens' awareness of labor rights and international standards, especially in the area of preventing forced and child labor, reported Asmannews publication.
Participants in the workshops included representatives of key ministries, including labour, agriculture, education and health, as well as members of trade unions, business organizations and local authorities. ILO experts and government representatives discussed international labor standards and measures taken in Turkmenistan to combat forced labor, paying special attention to the situation during the cotton harvest.
As a member of the ILO, Turkmenistan is actively working to incorporate international labor standards into national legislation. Within the framework of cooperation with the ILO, a number of activities are planned for 2024-2025 aimed at further raising public awareness and preventing the involvement of children in agricultural work.
