Ashgabat, August 1 - Arzuw.news. The OSCE Centre in Ashgabat held a seminar on youth participation in the negotiations on climate, security and co-operation. The event was held on July 29 and gathered more than 30 students from five leading higher educational institutions of the country. This was reported by the publication Turkmenistan: Golden Age.
The seminar was attended by representatives of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction, Yagshygeldi Kakaev International University of Oil and Gas, Myrat Garryev State Medical University and Oguz Khan University of Engineering and Technology.
The moderators were finalists from the OSCE Young Women for Peace Program from Central Asia. Participants explored the OSCE's environmental initiatives, the integration of gender perspectives into the organization's strategic agenda and the role of youth in climate negotiations.
Students analyzed the relationship between climate, water and security in global negotiations. During the workshop, participants learned practical skills of negotiation and diplomatic communication.
The meeting resulted in a draft youth statement on climate security, gender equality and regional cooperation. The document will be included in the National Youth Statement for COP30, allowing youth to contribute to the global climate agenda.
The workshop was held in preparation for the UNICEF 2025 Youth Climate Summer School.
