Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a special briefing on the results of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The high-level international forum was held from August 5 to 8 in the Avaza National Tourist Zone. The event was attended by heads of state and government, dignitaries from more than 100 countries, about 50 international organizations and representatives of more than 20 leading companies.
The main outcome of the conference was the adoption of the Awazi Political Declaration, a document for working together for the coming decade. The forum was aimed at building a better future for the 32 landlocked developing countries.
UN Under-Secretary-General, High Representative Rabab Fatima expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Turkmenistan for organizing the conference. According to her, the forum was a confirmation of the strategic partnership between the UN and Turkmenistan.
More than 160 media representatives from about 40 countries came to Avaza to cover the event. Turkmenistan confirmed its readiness to continue to contribute to international initiatives and regional cooperation.
