Chairman of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan held a meeting with Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Jan Sanders at the International Sea Port of Turkmenbashi. This is reported by the publication Turkmenistan: Golden Age.
The talks took place within the framework of the WCO Head's participation in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. The parties considered topical issues of interaction in the area of customs administration and identified areas for improving the efficiency of customs structures.
The discussion centered on the development of the WCO Regional Training Center, which operates on the basis of the Turkmen Customs Service. The participants of the meeting also touched upon the training of qualified specialists for the national customs system.
During the visit, Jan Sanders studied the port infrastructure of Turkmenbashi and assessed the created conditions for cargo transportation and passenger services. The meeting strengthened the partnership between Turkmenistan and the World Customs Organization in the field of customs cooperation.
