The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan named the country's achievements in the foreign policy arena

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a meeting during which the country's key achievements in the foreign policy arena were named. The event was attended by heads and employees of the state diplomatic service.
During the meeting the high level of Turkmenistan's partnership with Central Asian states and international organizations was emphasized. The success of the country in this area is also confirmed by the fact that it Turkmenistan to become vice-chair of the upcoming 75th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly.
The meeting not only heard reports on what has been done since the beginning of 2020, but also outlined the main tasks for the second half of the year.
An important part of the event was an extended presentation of the key areas of Turkmen diplomacy in the field of ecology. An official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs specializing in environmental protection delivered a report to the participants of the meeting. He told about the progress of the Caspian Environmental Program, which was initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov at the First Caspian Economic Forum. The event was held on the territory of the Avaza National Tourist Zone last August. The report noted the need to ensure the preservation of the Caspian Sea ecosystem against the background of global climate change.
In addition, the significant contribution of Turkmenistan to the implementation of tasks set by the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea was noted. Thus, the country did a lot to improve not only environmental but also socio-economic situation in the Aral Sea basin. Also cooperation within the framework of the Regional Program on Environmental Protection (RPEASD CA) was intensified.
The participants also discussed issues arising from Turkmenistan's accession to the Nagoya Protocol to the UN Convention. This document deals with biodiversity, regulates access to genetic resources and allows their application on the basis of equality and fairness.
