Publicist Akiniyazov shared his opinion on the importance of the International Day of the Elderly

The International Day of Older Persons on October 1 was established by the UNGA on December 14, 1990. First it was celebrated in Europe, then it became popular in America, and by the end of the 90s of the last century the holiday spread all over the world. In Turkmenistan, people of the older generation have been congratulated on the International Day of Older Persons since 1991. Publicist Serdar Akiniyazov shared his opinion on the significance of this holiday in the life of the older generation. This is reported by Centralasia.news.

Serdar Akiniyazov emphasized that respect and reverence for parents is in the blood of the Turkmen people. This trait of Turkmens is reflected in the poems of the great Makhtumkuli, in the lines of folk proverbs and wise parables. The national customs of Turkmens prescribe to treat not only parents, but also all people of the older generation with awe and respect. This tradition is laid in the early childhood and passed from generation to generation.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated the Turkmen people on the International Day of the Elderly 29.
