The presidents of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, Serdar Berdymukhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, discussed the increase of trade turnover and the promotion of joint cooperation projects in Samarkand, the press service of the Uzbek leader reported.
Berdymukhamedov on Thursday arrived to Samarkand to participate as a guest of honor in the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The presidents noted with satisfaction that the Turkmen-Uzbek relations in recent years have reached a qualitatively new level and were filled with concrete practical content.
There is a steady growth of trade turnover, which has increased by 10 percent since the beginning of the year. Joint cooperation projects in logistics, industry, agriculture and water management are being implemented. Regional cooperation and cultural and humanitarian exchanges are expanding.
The president of Turkmenistan expressed sincere gratitude to the leader of Uzbekistan for the invitation and warm hospitality extended to the Uzbek soil. He conveyed greetings from Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan.
Berdymukhamedov and Mirziyoyev met at the end of the day. Prior to that, the president of Turkmenistan met with the leaders of China and Russia Xi Jinping и Vladimir Putin.
