Today, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov and Chairman of China Xi Jinping discussed the increase of Turkmen gas supplies to China, as well as the implementation of joint transport and logistics projects on the margins of the SCO summit in Samarkand. The electronic newspaper "Turkmenistan" reports about it.
"China is currently the largest trade and economic partner of our country, and it should be emphasized that there are great opportunities for deepening economic cooperation, increasing the volume of Turkmen gas sent to this friendly country, implementation of joint projects in the field of transport and logistics.
President Serdar Berdymukhamedov said that the country is ready for further development of multifaceted cooperation with the People's Republic of China and emphasized the priority areas of bilateral relations. Berdymukhamedov proposed holding another meeting of the Joint Working Group on Gas Cooperation to intensify the negotiation process on the construction of the fourth line of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, noting that the fuel and energy sector is an important area of Turkmen-Chinese partnership, fully supported the proposals of the Turkmen side to further develop gas cooperation and build the fourth line of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline.
Turkmenistan is the largest exporter of pipeline gas to China. In 2021 about 34 billion cubic meters of gas were delivered to the Celestial Empire. The "blue fuel" is supplied via three lines (A, B and C), running along the route Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China. The fourth line (D) is planned to be laid along the route Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan-China. With the construction of the fourth line and reaching the design capacity, the supply of Turkmen gas to China should be increased to 65 billion cubic meters per year.
