About 260 women who have given birth to eight children or more have been awarded the honorary title of "Ene mähri

On the eve of International Women's Day, about 260 women who have given birth to eight or more children were awarded the honorary title of "Ene mähri" in Turkmenistan. President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov signed a corresponding decree on March 6.

In the document the President noted that "in our sovereign state mothers are highly esteemed, whose hearts are filled with tenderness and pride, who through their selfless work increase the authority of the homeland, instill in their children such noble qualities as patriotism, humanism, nobility and hard work, and thus deserve such a high title.

Women from different parts of the country became the winners of the title "Ene mähri". Dashoguz velayat tops the list with more than 100 women, Mary velayat (more than 50 women) and Lebap velayat (more than 45) share the second place, Ashgabat (26) and Akhal velayat (24) come third and women from Balkan velayat complete the list with more than 10 women. About 230 holders of the honorary title of Turkmenistan "Ene mähri" are housewives.

The honorary title of Turkmenistan "Ene mähri" is awarded on the basis of the Regulations approved by the Law of Turkmenistan "On the creation of the honorary name of Turkmenistan "Ene mähri". The Act was adopted on 3 March 2008.
