Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan: election results summarized

According to the Internet edition "Turkmenistan: Golden Age", the meeting of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums of Turkmenistan was held on March 29 to summarize the results of the March 26 elections of Majlis deputies, members of velayat, etrap and city khalk maslahaty and Gengesh.

The results of voting based on the protocols of election commissions were announced. Out of 258 candidates, 125 deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan of the new convocation were elected. Out of 2516 candidates, 240 members of velayat and 960 members of etrap and city khalk maslahaty were elected. Out of 12098 candidates, 5897 members of the Gengesh were approved.

In all electoral districts, two or more candidates competed for one mandate. In all constituencies, two or more deputies contested for one mandate. The velayat, etrap, city khalk maslahaty and Gengesh were composed of representatives of the Democratic Party (3,320 members), the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (304), the Agrarian Party (1,513), and citizens' groups (2,085).
