Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov today held an online meeting with the UN Under-Secretary-General, Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Ms. Inger Andersen. This is reported by Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.
In the course of the meeting the issues related to Turkmenistan's initiatives were considered, in particular, the establishment of the Center for Central Asian countries on climate change technologies in Ashgabat. Within the framework of the Global Methane Commitment, Turkmenistan together with the International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) started activities related to the development of a mechanism for reporting methane emissions data obtained through the MARS system.
The parties discussed the possibility of expanding cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNEP within the framework of the Caspian Environment Initiative.
