Head of Turkmenistan Participates in India-Central Asia Summit

On January 27, the first India-Central Asia summit was held online. The meeting was attended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the heads of Central Asian countries.

Addressing the summit, the Turkmen leader noted the importance of the diplomatic relations that were established 30 years ago. Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov emphasized that India is an important partner for Turkmenistan.

The head of Turkmenistan supported the idea of implementing the Dialogue at the level of Security Advisors, the "CA-India" Parliamentary Forum, and also advocated the creation of the Secretariat of the "CA-India" Summit. In addition, the Turkmen leader proposed to strengthen cooperation in the international format, primarily within the framework of the UN.

Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov emphasized the important role of the Central Asia-India Business Council, which can promote cooperation in the energy sector. The Turkmen leader also noted the potential for cooperation in the transport sector, medical diplomacy, the joint fight against COVID-19, and the cultural and humanitarian sphere.
