Heads of Foreign Ministries of Central Asia and Russia discuss key issues of cooperation

Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan R.Meredov took part in the 3rd meeting of foreign ministers of the "Central Asia + Russia" format. The following foreign ministers represented their states: M.Tleuberdi (Kazakhstan), A.Kamilov (Uzbekistan), R.Kazakbaev (Kyrgyzstan), S.Mukhriddin (Tajikistan), S.Lavrov (Russia). Participants in the talks discussed vital issues of a political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian nature. A separate topic was confronting the global pandemic and developing plans to overcome the economic and social consequences of COVID-19.

Rashid Meredov spoke about measures taken by Turkmenistan to combat the pandemic and noted the need to strengthen cooperation at the regional level.

The diplomats discussed the current situation and prospects for cooperation on security issues in Central Asia, taking into account the Afghan issue. It was noted that neutral Turkmenistan defends the position of the negotiation process based solely on diplomatic mechanisms, the creation and development of regional infrastructure projects, and the provision of humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.

The foreign ministers discussed the intensification of interaction on the Eurasian platform, taking into account the initiatives of the member states in the negotiation process. They also discussed issues of scientific, educational and cultural partnership.
