Diplomats of Turkmenistan and Sweden held an online meeting to discuss prospects for further cooperation.
The heads of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of Sweden met online. The main topics of the talks were the formation of new areas for cooperation and development of existing contacts in the political, diplomatic, cultural, humanitarian, trade and economic sectors. Diplomats of the two friendly countries also touched on prospects for cooperation in the format of the EU New Strategy for the Central Asian region, noting that in this area there is great potential for a multifaceted partnership between them.
Participants noted the need to strengthen mutual cooperation in the format of both regional and international structures, including the OSCE and the UN.
The foreign ministers considered the potential of interaction between Turkmenistan and Sweden in view of the latter's presidency of the OSCE in 2021.
The Turkmen Foreign Minister expressed readiness to establish a broad-based dialogue on all promising areas for the two countries. This is fully in line with the "open door" policy successfully pursued by the Leader of the Turkmen nation. Common efforts of friendly states to counteract the existing COVID-19 situation are of particular importance.
During the talks, the topics of the rule of law and human rights, gender equality, scientific and educational spheres were touched upon. Particular attention is paid to innovation and IT.
