On 15 June, the OSCE Centre organized an event in the capital of Turkmenistan together with the Office of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities to assist Turkmenistan in implementing the National Human Rights Action Plan for 2021-2025 in the field of respect for the rights of national minorities. This is stated in a press release from the OSCE Center in Ashgabat.
According to the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, K. Abdrakhmanov, it is important for any state to have the participation of ethnic minorities in all spheres of the country's public life, which helps to increase loyalty to various state institutions.
In his speech, OSCE Program Co-ordinator R. Kastberg noted that the National Action Plan for 2021-2025 in Turkmenistan provides for the development of measures to preserve ethnic, cultural and religious diversity.
During the discussion, international experts from Lithuania and Estonia proposed effective mechanisms to integrate national minorities and ensure their education in their mother tongue.
