Turkmenistan adopted the Constitution on May 18, 1992, and a number of amendments and additions have been made since independence. Important constitutional reforms were carried out in 2008, 2016 and 2020. The legal status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan was twice accepted by the international community.
In January 2023, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the Law on Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of Turkmenistan and the Law on the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, the supreme body representing the interests of the people.
In honor of the National Holidays, conferences, exhibitions, thematic meetings and other festive events are held in the velayats and the capital of the country.
