World Breastfeeding Week is being organized in Turkmenistan

WHO together with UNICEF organize World Breastfeeding Week every year from August 1 to 7. This is reported by the Internet publication "AsmanNews.

This year's theme is "Filling the Gaps: Ensure Universal Support for Breastfeeding". The aim of the global action is to support and revitalize the breastfeeding culture, popularize it for the effective survival and development of children.

World Breastfeeding Week was established by the World Health Assembly in 2018. On these days, the Innocenti Declaration on "Protecting, Promoting and Supporting Breastfeeding" was adopted in 1990.

During the week, there will be calls to promote breastfeeding as the key to a healthy baby. WHO recommends breastfeeding for at least the first six months of a child's life. This contributes to improving the overall health of the population.
