Foreign Ministry: Information on COVID-19 from the U.S. Embassy in Turkmenistan is "fake"

The Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan commented on a report about quarantine measures in the country that appeared today on the website of the U.S. Embassy in Turkmenistan. The Foreign Ministry called distorted information about forced placement of citizens with symptoms of coronavirus who have been tested in infectious disease hospitals without control over facilities for an indefinite period of time.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that such information "fakes" do not reflect reality and have no confirmation, in connection with which diplomats have repeatedly appealed to the U.S. Ambassador to Turkmenistan.

The Turkmen Foreign Ministry underlined that meetings are regularly held to provide the diplomatic corps and foreign media with the fullest possible information about the situation with COVID-19 in Turkmenistan. The Foreign Ministry noted that U.S. diplomats did not participate in such briefings.

The dissemination of distorted information by the U.S. Embassy in Turkmenistan is, according to Turkmenistan, counterproductive.
