Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Arnold Kreilhuber, Director of the Regional Office of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) in Europe, held talks in Ashgabat on November 29. This is reported on the website Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The meeting was held in the framework of the Conference on Food Security in the Context of Climate Change. The participants of the talks discussed the agenda on environmental issues, paying attention to the development of bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and UNEP. The efforts undertaken by Turkmenistan to implement the Paris Climate Agreement were noted.
The parties touched upon the establishment of the Regional Center for Climate Change Technologies in Turkmenistan. Attention was emphasized on concrete steps of implementation of the Global Methane Commitment and the situation around the Aral Sea was considered.
