A creative meeting of Turkmen and Uzbek writers and poets dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen thinker and poet Makhtumkuli Fraghi was held in Tashkent on October 29. It is reported on website Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan.
The event was attended by representatives of literature and culture of the two countries. Before the meeting, the guests visited the Writers' Park in Tashkent, where a statue of Alisher Navoi was installed. It is known that Makhtumkuli admired Navoi's work and considered him his spiritual mentor.
An exhibition dedicated to Uzbek literature was organized for the participants of the event at the Museum of the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan. Editions of classic and modern Turkmen literature translated into Uzbek were also presented.
The meeting of writers of the two fraternal nations became a bright event in the cultural life of the region and once again demonstrated the commonality of historical and literary traditions of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
