November 1 - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Park Jin will arrive in Turkmenistan to participate in the 16th Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum to be held in Ashgabat. This is reported by Turkmenportal.
The event will also be attended by the foreign ministers of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The forum is expected to discuss prospects for bilateral cooperation in priority areas such as ecology, healthcare, transportation, information technology and education.
The visit of the South Korean minister marks a new stage in relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea. Earlier in September, Presidents Serdar Berdymukhamedov and Yun Seok-yol held talks in New York, agreeing to intensify political dialog and trade and economic partnership.
Today's forum is intended to give additional impetus to this cooperation, especially in the area of green technologies and innovations that will help Central Asia address environmental challenges. Turkmenistan hopes to use South Korea's best practices to modernize its economy in line with the principles of sustainable development.
