Ambassador of Turkmenistan presents WCO Secretary General with a handmade Turkmen carpet

During a meeting with Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Ian Saunders on June 17, Ambassador of Turkmenistan Sapar Palvanov handed over a Turkmen handmade carpet with the image of Makhtumkuli Fraghi. This is reported by the Internet edition "Türkmenistan habarlar portaly.".

The gift in honor of the 300th anniversary of Makhtumkuli Fraghi will become part of the museum collection of the WCO Cultural Fund of the WCO member countries. Presenting the carpet, the Turkmen diplomat noted that it took four months to make the product. Such a landmark gift became a symbol of the rich literary and cultural heritage of the Turkmen people.

The Secretary-General of the Organization expressed his gratitude for the generous gift and praised the craftsmanship of the carpet. Ian Saunders also compared the creative legacy of Makhtumkuli Fraghi to that of William Shakespeare in the context of high literary and cultural significance.
