Ambassador of Turkmenistan Shohrat Jumayev presented his credentials to President of Portugal Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov. The diplomat and the Portuguese President had a short conversation, during which Jumaev addressed the President and the Portuguese people with warm words of greeting and best wishes on behalf of Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov. The ambassador noted Turkmenistan's readiness to develop a multifaceted dialogue with the Portuguese Republic.
The Portuguese leader thanked Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov and the Turkmen nation for his kind words and addressed the nation in return. He noted that his country is interested in expanding further partnership with Turkmenistan, both politically and in economic, cultural and humanitarian sectors.
Jumayev assured Marcelo Rebelo de Souza that he intends to use all of his rich diplomatic experience to further develop the Turkmen-Portuguese partnership.
Shokhrat Jumayev was assigned to represent Turkmenistan in Portugal by decree of Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov in December 2019. The diplomat now combines the duties of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to both Portugal and France.
