The first Diplomatic Friendship Games organized by the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN with the assistance of the missions of Australia, India, Kazakhstan, Qatar and El Salvador were held in New York as part of the UNGA Sustainable Development Week. The games were dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Makhtumkuli Fraghi. This is reported by the Internet publication "Vestiabad".
The Friendship Games program included competitions in soccer, basketball, volleyball, tennis, Pickleball, running, chess and yoga. The Games were attended by 300 athletes from 85 countries and 18 organizations representing diplomatic and consular missions, the UN Secretariat and specialized agencies.
Turkmenistan's representative to the UN Aksoltan Ataeva made a speech during the closing ceremony of the games and awarding of winners and prize-winners.
