The Russian embassy in Ashgabat told Arzuw News that Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov has confirmed his participation in a parade marking the 75th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War Victory, which will be held in Moscow on June 24.
In addition to Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova as well as Serbia, Croatia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia also confirmed their participation in the June 24 parade in Moscow. This was previously reported by Tass with reference to Press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
Recall that previously the traditional date of the Victory Parade on May 9, in Moscow was canceled this year because of the coronavirus pandemic. June 24 was chosen in honor of the first WWII Victory Parade held on Red Square in 1945.
How reported earlier, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the authorities of almost all post-Soviet countries cancelled mass celebrations of Victory Day. Only Turkmenistan and the Republic of Belarus held a military parade on May 9.
