The Government of Turkmenistan jointly with UNDP held a seminar to prepare for the interactive dialog on the development of the universal periodic review with the UN Human Rights Council, which will be held on November 6 in Geneva. This is reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
The UPR is a mechanism for peer review of the human rights situation, which should take place every four and a half years. Turkmenistan submitted the report of the third cycle of the UPR and accepted 172 recommendations out of 193.
Turkmenistan's National UPR Report contributes to accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The seminar was attended by representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, members of the Parliament of Turkmenistan, specialists from the Ombudsman's Office and UNDP expert Tomas Baranovasa.
