Turkmenistan's capital has been nominated for inclusion in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network

The UNESCO Secretariat accepted the nomination application of the capital of Turkmenistan to be added to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of design. Turkmenistan's nomination application will undergo an independent peer review over the course of several months. The final summary on inclusion into the Network will be announced by the Director General of UNESCO on the eve of the World Day of Cities, celebrated on the last day of October.

The Creative Cities Network was created in 2004 to foster partnerships between cities around the world that aim to invest in cultural and social inclusion. Now the list of the Network includes 246 cities. The Network improves the cooperation in the categories of "Craft and Folklore", "Design", "Cinema", "Gastronomy", "Literature", "Media Arts" and "Music". This association is an effective tool for interaction and embodies the universal aspiration to support creative, innovative potential for the realization of the SDGs.
