Turkmenistan and Pakistan discuss trade and economic cooperation

Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov today held a meeting with Additional Secretary for West Asia and Afghanistan of the Pakistan Foreign Ministry Syed Ali Asad Gillani. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the talks, the diplomats reviewed the issues of bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest. The sides noted the fruitful partnership of the two countries in international and regional structures.

Trade and economic cooperation, which the participants of the meeting defined as a priority direction of Turkmen-Pakistani relations, was at the top of the agenda. The diplomats also emphasized the importance of maintaining an active dialog between the foreign ministries of both countries.

The sides showed special interest in the development of cultural and humanitarian ties between Turkmenistan and Pakistan.

Following the meeting, the participants agreed to continue joint work on strengthening transport and energy interconnectivity between Turkmenistan, Pakistan and other states in the region.
