A tourist train following the route of the Great Silk Road has arrived in Ashgabat. This was reported by the TurkmenPortal online edition.
Thirty-nine tourists from nine countries, including Russia, Italy, Great Britain and other countries, set off on a fascinating journey. The tourist train started in Kazakhstan, passed through Uzbekistan and has already crossed the border at the Farab checkpoint of Turkmenistan. During the next 10 days, the train will pass through Mary, Ashgabat and Dashoguz, where travelers will be able to get acquainted with the rich culture of the Turkmen people. The trip includes a visit to Ichoguz railway station, where travelers will see the famous crater with burning natural gas called "Gates of Hell".
In addition, visits to the Turkmenbashi Rukhy Mosque, the State Circus where the "Galkynysh" equestrian group will perform, the Independence Monument, the Neutrality Monument, the 10 Years of Independence Park, the Bagt Koshgi Marriage Palace and the Carpet Museum are planned.
