Specialists at the Technology Center of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan have invented a new method of producing citric acid, Turkmenistan: The Golden Age reports.
The new method is based on the fermentation of microorganisms and is intended to contribute to solving the problems of waste processing in industry and the establishment of zero-waste production.
Citric acid is widely used in the food industry. It is used as a pH regulator and preservative in the production of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, refining of vegetable oils. It is also used in the textile industry to remove iron deposits from boilers and hot water systems, to prevent foaming.
