On May 17, inter-ministerial political consultations were held with the participation of Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov and Special Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for Central Asia, Deputy Director General of the Bureau of European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan Masaki Ikegami. During the meeting, the sides noted the fruitful cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan in political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. Special attention was paid to the holding of the first summit of the participating countries of the Dialogue "Central Asia + Japan".
Steps to implement joint projects in the trade and economic sphere were considered. It was noted that the activities of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen committees on economic partnership are of particular importance in this regard.
