Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan discussed water sector issues

A regular meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission on Water Issues with the participation of heads and representatives of specialized agencies of the two countries was held in Turkmenabat. This was reported by the TurkmenPortal online edition.

In the course of the meeting the issues of implementation of previously reached agreements and prospects for further development of cooperation were considered. Mutual interest was expressed in continuing effective partnership in agriculture and water management. The Parties emphasized the commitment to cooperation in the field of water resources management.

The Commission members agreed to hold bilateral meetings to discuss water use issues of mutual interest.
