Turkmenistan steps up cooperation with Russian Railways for the efficiency of the North-South ITC

Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Ashgabat Ivan Volynkin said about increasing cooperation between Russian Railways, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan in order to maximize the efficiency of the eastern part of the North-South ITC. This is reported by the TASS news agency.

The Ambassador noted the intensification of cooperation between Russian Railways and relevant ministries and agencies. He emphasized that of particular importance is the development of the eastern part of the North-South ITC, in particular, the railway connection in cooperation between Russian Railways and Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. In addition, the importance of including information on the capabilities of the international seaport of Turkmenbashi in the digital register of transport and logistics centers for the North-South ITC was noted.

It should be recalled that the agreement between Russia, India and Iran on the creation of a multimodal transport corridor "North-South" was signed in 2000. Turkmenistan joined the agreement in 2023.
