The OSCE regional conference on combating terrorism and organized crime was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance of Turkmenistan. The conference was facilitated by the OSCE Secretariat's Transnational Threats Department.
Delegates from Central Asian states, as well as from a number of other OSCE participating states, international and regional structures, the UN, civil society activists, experts, and representatives of the individual sector were invited to participate in the conference.
Speakers noted the need to further expand cooperation among OSCE participating States in order to respond quickly to the threats posed in today's society.
The participants of the event learned about international experience in combating the financing of terrorist organizations. It was noted that it is very important to strengthen interaction and establish effective information exchange between all stakeholders, including the public and the private sector, in order to effectively implement the set tasks.
Practical exercises were also organized, during which participants were divided into groups. The practical examples of practical experience in the investigation of financing of terrorist organizations by criminal and financial agents were discussed in groups.
