Sakhetmurad Mammadov, head of the scientific department of the Khazar State Nature Reserve, told about the amazing underwater world of the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea. This is reported by the Internet edition AsmanNews.

The expert noted that the fauna of the Caspian Sea is characterized by diversity. A total of 65 species of fish are found in the Caspian Sea, including 61 species in the Turkmen sector. The specialist noted that fish listed in the Red Book - whitefish, Caspian lamprey, Volga herring, Caspian kumzha - are found in the Caspian waters on the territory of the Khazar Reserve. Also, the Turkmen waters of the Caspian Sea have become a fertile environment for representatives of the Mediterranean - mollusks, crayfish, shrimps.

С. Mammedov also spoke about various species of migratory birds that stop at the Caspian coast. It was noted that more than 300 species of birds inhabit the territory of the State Nature Reserve, of which about 70% are also red-listed species.
