Turkmen chess player became the leader of the absentee chess tournament

The 17th Zonal Championship of Asia and Africa under the auspices of the International Correspondence Chess Federation, where Turkmen chess player Akhmed Odeyev secured the first place, is almost over. This is reported in the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan".

For a complete victory, Odeyev needs to wait for the results of the last game, which does not affect the first place outcome. Odeyev is also the captain of the Asia-Africa team, which is participating in the 11th Interzonal Team Chess Tournament. Ahmed's team includes eight chess players from India, Kazakhstan, Australia, Japan and other countries.

Akhmed Odeyev is a coach of the Ashgabat Specialized Chess and Chess School. Akhmed's students - his daughter Kristina Odeyeva and Naim Talibov, who were among the top 10 strongest players of the competition - also take part in the tournament.
