A monument to Abai Kunanbayuly, a classic of Kazakh literature, will appear in Ashgabat

A monument to the outstanding Kazakh poet and thinker Abai Kunanbayuly will soon be erected in the capital of Turkmenistan - Ashgabat. This became known after meetings National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev. The information is reported by the publication Turkmenportal with reference to the TDH news agency.

Chairman of the Khalk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan thanked the Kazakh leader for the initiative to install a monument to Turkmen poet Makhtumkuli Fraghi in Astana. In response, he proposed to place in Ashgabat a sculpture of Abai Kunanbayuly - a bright representative of Kazakh literature of the XIX century.

According to the newspaper, the monument will be installed on the territory of the cultural and park complex named after Makhtumkuli Fraghi. Thus, two prominent writers of the East will "neighbor" in the white marble capital of Turkmenistan.

In addition, in 2024, both countries will host events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Makhtumkuli Fraghi. Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in Kazakhstan are also planned. This will be another step to strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.
