Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, on October 14 met with Jong Won-ju, Chairman of the Board of Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co. "Westiabad.".
The meeting discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea. It was noted that the partnership between the two countries is developing in the industrial, energy and chemical spheres. Large South Korean companies have been working in Turkmenistan since the first years of independence.
Jong Won-ju emphasized Turkmenistan's achievements in the chemical industry and confirmed Daewoo Engineering & Construction's readiness to participate in new projects.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the country continues to implement programs of economic growth and industrial reforms, including the development of "green" technologies. In particular, methanol production from cotton stalks is being studied.
The expansion of cooperation between the State Concern "Türkmenhimiýa" and Daewoo Company was discussed separately. The National Leader of the Turkmen people drew attention to the need to comply with environmental standards and apply scientific developments in the construction of new facilities.
At the end of the meeting, Jong Won-ju expressed gratitude to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov for supporting the business and stated the company's readiness to continue working in the country. The National Leader wished the representative of Daewoo Engineering & Construction success in his activities.
