On Tuesday, January 17, Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with Archbishop Theophylact, who is the administrator of the country's Patriarchal Diocese parishes. This was reported on the official website of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry (mfa.gov.tm).
The central topic of the meeting was further strengthening of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. The archbishop expressed gratitude to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for maintaining favorable conditions for the Russian Orthodox Church in Turkmenistan.
In 2008, the future Archbishop Theophylact was appointed to lead the parishes of the Patriarchal Diocese of Turkmenistan in accordance with the decision of the Holy Synod.
