A curling department was opened at the Ashgabat Palace of Winter Sports. Currently, an active recruitment of boys and girls 13-17 years old for the professional group of juniors is underway. This is reported in the online publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
In 2020, the Turkmen Curling Federation received the status of a provisional member of the WCF. This sport is still very young for the country, but the coaching staff has successfully completed the World Curling Academy course, which allows the effective training of professional athletes to participate in prestigious international competitions.
According to chief curling coach Sakina Gulamalyeva, this sport will be developed at the junior level and in the future it should be included in the program of children's winter sports school along with short-track, hockey and figure skating.
