Science Day was celebrated in Turkmenistan. It is not only a professional holiday for people engaged in scientific research, but also for those who are employees of various scientific structures.
On the occasion of this event, Ashgabat hosted an international scientific conference on science and technology, as well as the development of innovative technologies. The event, which was organized by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of state independence.
The forum solemnly opened on the premises of the Oguz Khan Engineering and Technological University. Before the start of the conference, an exposition dedicated to innovations was organized. Among the presented developments there were also projects worked on by young students - future scientists.
The event was held in a hybrid mode - some participants of the International Conference were present in the hall, while others communicated with their colleagues via video link. The forum was preceded by Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov's welcoming address to all participants.
In it the President of Turkmenistan emphasized that the scientific and technical policy pursued by the state and the new potential for international interaction are of increasing interest to the world community. The presence of world-renowned scientists and professors and representatives of prominent scientific and educational centers of the world at the International Conference is evidence of this, in particular. The head of the state noted that it is science and modern knowledge that are assigned the role of one of the fundamental factors of global peaceful and good-neighborly relations with the purpose of universal progress in various spheres of activity.
Foreign participants of the conference expressed their own views on the prospects for cooperation in the organization of practical research to address topical scientific and technical issues.
This year, scientists of Turkmenistan presented a number of new developments. Among them is a method of obtaining activated carbon on the basis of waste of the medicinal plant licorice. Thanks to this discovery by a group of scientists from the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, in the future it will be possible to stop importing activated carbon and completely switch to domestic analogues.
Turkmen scientists are also solving the problems of efficient processing of various raw materials - mineral, hydrocarbon and others. The developments related to production and research of halogen-containing organic acids are being carried out.
The researchers working at the Karrykul station are also being supported. This year, they received a powerful electric generator and a photovoltaic system at their disposal. This will make their work more efficient. Thus, the scientists intend to increase the yield of pastures and raise fresh water from the underground layers.
Science Day in Turkmenistan was established by a decree of President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov. It began to be celebrated in 2007. This decision contributed to the beginning of scientific and innovative development of the country.
