Field schools for farmers will appear in Turkmenistan

Field schools for farmers will appear in Turkmenistan. This step is in line with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) regional project to develop integrated resource management, in areas of the Central Asian region and Turkey suffering from drought or excessive soil salinity. The Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan coordinates implementation in Turkmenistan.

Pilot field schools will operate in the Gurbansoltan-Eje etrap. Gurbansoltan-Eje and Nohur. Students will learn new practical skills using technical and methodological information. Farmers will also be provided with advice, technological and technical services. On the basis of the pilot field schools, classes and meetings with agricultural producers will be held.

Karrykul, the National Institute of Deserts, Flora, and Fauna, will facilitate the training. The project intends to establish and improve cooperation with it.

The scientific institution has many years of experience in the development of the Karakum, works to conserve ecosystems and strengthen the mobility of the sands, and also contributes to the growth of pasture yields.
